These sermons on Nehemiah were preached from April 2018 - May 2018 in conjunction with the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). They do not comprise the entire book, but rather what scholars call "the testimonies" of Nehemiah. Nehemiah is a book that contains various first-hand accounts of the life of Nehemiah in the Jerusalem as well as lists of names and other liturgical events that were important. Scholarship has suggested that the Psalms of Ascent were deliberately arranged in the Psalter and then sung in this order perhaps in 445 B.C. along with corresponding testimonies during the week long Feast of Tabernacles celebration to help the nation commemorate the great reforms and goodness of God in Nehemiah and Ezra's lifetimes.
